From August 3 to 10, 2025, the International Academic Conference on High-Quality Development of “Belt and Road” Medicine was held at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, China. The Young Practitioners Branch of the American TCM Association was invited to participate in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Sub-Forum and the “Cold and Warm Integration, Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Integration” Academic Workshop (Gansu Province TCM Continuing Education Project, No. 2025–096).

This academic workshop aimed to promote the internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine, deepen the integration of TCM theoretical innovation and clinical practice, and strengthen academic exchanges in the field of TCM between China and the United States, particularly focusing on new technologies and methods in acupuncture. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions throughout the event.

The U.S.-China TCM academic exchange was led by President Xiyuan Qiu of the Young Acupuncturist Association of America of ATCMA, with a delegation of seven members. They engaged in comprehensive learning and exchange with Director Junqiang Niu’s team at Lanzhou University First Hospital. The delegation presented the recent development, current status, and challenges of TCM acupuncture in the United States, showcasing widely used clinical techniques such as Battlefield Acupuncture, Professor Wei Liu’s acupuncture techniques, Professor Decheng Chen’s Motion Needle Therapy, and Professor Biao Lu’s acupuncture methods.
Dr. Yibai Duan, as a representative of the Motion Acupuncture Association and entrusted by Professor Decheng Chen, was honored to attend the high-profile conference at this key hub city on the Silk Road Economic Belt.

The conference aimed to promote international cooperation and collaborative innovation in healthcare. During the event, Dr. Duan delivered a systematic presentation on the core theory and clinical applications of Motion Needle Therapy, with a special focus on its unique advantages in efficiently addressing musculoskeletal pain and empowering primary healthcare services.

The presentation sparked enthusiastic responses. Participants highly praised the ingenious design and proven clinical efficacy of Motion Acupuncture Therapy and expressed strong interest in mastering the technique.

Dr. Duan also conducted live demonstrations, effectively treating conditions such as frozen shoulder and chronic neck pain on-site. The interactive session further deepened the audience’s understanding and confidence in the therapy.

Following the academic exchange, the young practitioners also visited the TCM acupuncture program at Lanzhou University First Hospital and explored the development of the Fuo Ci Tea Factory in the health industry sector.

This exchange provided the delegation with valuable insights. They not only learned about the latest TCM techniques in China but also brought the latest research achievements in U.S. acupuncture to China, enabling domestic physicians to better understand international developments. The delegation unanimously agreed that such academic exchanges should be held more frequently in the future.
