Personal Experience & Biography
Anxiety; post stroke; post cancer treatment care and gynecological disorders. I completed the degree (an extra year) towards a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Chinese Medicine in 2020.
With my retired husband, we moved to Coromandel in January 2021 and set up my new clinic Coromandel Community Acupuncture. It has received great support from the community. I have established myself as a local acupuncturist and have been working with doctors, an osteopath and other health professionals. Word of mouth is my main source of new patients. In December 2022 we finally moved to our new house at Wyuna Bay and my home clinic has amazing views of rolling hills and both the harbour and the ocean, which I have dreamed to provide a healing paradise for my patients. In November 2022, I expanded my practice to Whitianga which has offered me the opportunity to work closely with even more health professionals including midwives. I have enjoyed working in this wonderful community and bringing my skills to serve a wider population in the peninsula.
The core principle of my practice is to provide affordable and accessible services to improve the health and wellbeing for the community. Continuing learning cutting edge knowledge to provide the most effective treatment for patients has always been my pursuit and I have ongoing courses.
I am also a Taichi teacher and have been dedicated to this ancient practice for over 25 years. I look for the holistic approach with my patients and assist them to maintain their health in a taichi way. I have been running weekly taichi classes in Coromandel since February 2021.
In my spare time, I am a keen ocean swimmer (member of Coromandel Dolphins), tramper, and enjoy music, photography, and the arts.
Institution Overview
I set up Coromandel Community Acupuncture in Coromandel town and Colville in January 2021. My principle was to provide affordable and accessible service to the community, especially to people in rural areas where there is less access to medical facilities. I worked closely with Dr. Kate Armstrong who did integrative medicine based in the Colville Family Health Centre from 2021 for almost two years. To attract a wide range of population coming to try acupuncture for their conditions which haven’t been resolved by conventional medicine, and to make my service affordable for low income families, I have offered opening specials, annual winter specials and recently a clinic open day (to celebrate World Acupuncture Day). For the past five years, I have had many referrals from doctors, and other allied health professionals and most of all, from my patients. The conditions I have treated from musculo-skeletal issues, like pains and aches, to internal disorders like respiratory, metabolic, endocrine, digestive.
