Qi Zhao

Dr. Zhao Qi was born into a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and grew up immersed in this rich heritage. At the age of 16, he began shadowing his father in clinical practice, which sparked his lifelong dedication to healing and saving lives. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in medicine from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, specializing in acupuncture and tuina therapy.

Dr. Zhao has 22 years of clinical acupuncture experience, including 16 years in Beijing, 5 years in Sydney, and 1 year in Washington. He previously served as an associate professor at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, deputy chief physician in the Department of Acupuncture at Dongzhimen Hospital, and director of the Office of International Cooperation. He was also the co-director of the China-Australia Chinese Medicine Center, a joint initiative between Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Western Sydney University.

While working in the oncology department at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, Dr. Zhao was the principal investigator of a five-year project on “Acupuncture for Cancer Pain.” This research aimed to provide evidence-based medical proof of the safety and efficacy of acupuncture for treating cancer pain within Australia’s mainstream medical system.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements in his field and significant contributions to Australian society, the Australian government awarded Dr. Zhao the Global Talent recognition.
