Personal Experience & Biography

Dr. Cao has been an active TCM practitioner in the United States for over 10 years. She specialized in pain management and neurological disorders.

Dr. Cao has extensive experience using the body’s energy systems to help balance and restore the body’s natural flow of Qi. She has been practicing TaiChi and QiGong since she was 8 years old. She inherited the talent from her father, who was the former Director of the Martial Arts Department of the Sports Bureau of Sichuan Province, China. Her preferred course of treatment is to incorporate energy work through breathing and mind-body axial to help patients to achieve both mental and physical overall well-being and tranquility.

Dr. Cao is a kind, warm-hearted, caring person. She dedicates to treat patients with sincere compassion, empathy, sympathy and equality. She emphasizes needling safety and comfort for her patients at all times. With thorough communication, she formulates each treatment plan tailoring to the individual needs, then modifies the plan to the optimal level according to each patient’s feedback. Dr. Cao truly enjoys helping patients get better and stay healthy.

Dr. Cao has joined the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, now known as Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center(ATAMMC) as a full time acupuncturist since 2022. ATAMMC is a United States Department of Defense medical facility, in conjunction with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the hospital provides the Military Health System medical services to the military and their families of the National Capital Region(NCR). As an skillful acupuncturist working in the Defense Health Agency(DHA) system, Dr. Cao has achieved remarkable medical results and received high recognition from her patients; at the same time, she plays an important role in promoting Oriental Medicine within mainstream medicine.

Currently, Dr. Cao continues to see private patients in her private clinic on Saturdays.

Therapist Qualifications

Dr. Cao is a licensed acupuncturist certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and holds acupuncture licenses in multiple U.S. states (VA/MD/FL). She graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with dual bachelor’s degrees in Acupuncture, Tuina, and Rehabilitation. She worked for three years in the Department of Acupuncture at the university’s affiliated hospital. After moving to the United States, she earned her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from the highly regarded Florida College of Integrative Medicine (FCIM). She later pursued a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM) at Five Branches University in California, specializing in clinical acupuncture practice.
